Brian K. Mitchell, O.D.
Dr. Brian Mitchell grew up in Bend, Oregon. He attended Pacific University on a athletic/academic scholarship. He earned All-American honors in baseball in 1989. He graduated in 1992. In 1994, Dr. Mitchell earned his doctorate from Pacific University College of Optometry. He joined the staff at Eyecare Associates in 1994.
Dr. Mitchell enjoys every aspect of optometric care from treatment of ocular disease to fitting contact lenses. He is past president of the Southern Oregon Optometric Society and current member of the American Optometric Society. In his free time he enjoys playing competitive men’s baseball, fishing, hunting, camping and spending time with his wife, daughter, and son.

W. Kurt Wilkening, O.D.
Dr. Wilkening has been in private practice in Medford since 1981. After building a successful solo practice for ten years and establishing a satellite office in Shady Cove, he co-founded Eyecare Associates of Southern Oregon, PC. And built a state of the art eye clinic at the current location on Royal Ave.
Dr. Wilkening grew up in Iowa and received his Bachelor of Science in Visual Science from the University of Iowa in 1977. He earned his doctorate from the Illinois college of Optometry in 1981.
Outside of the office Dr. Wilkening enjoys skiing, mountaineering and back country exploration but is most happy when he is with his wife Toree and two beautiful daughters Brienz and Cedar.

Tessa Johnston, O.D.
Eyecare Associates would like to welcome Dr. Tessa Johnston to our practice. Dr. Johnston was born and raised in Ashland, Oregon. She graduated with honors from Oregon State University, where she majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and French. She earned her Doctor of Optometry degree at The Ohio State University in 2006, graduating Magna Cum Laude. During her training she completed rotations in contact lens, ocular disease, and pediatric vision. In August 2006 she returned home to the Rogue Valley and joined Eyecare Associates. Dr. Johnston now lives in Ashland with her husband Tim and daughter Brooke. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her family and outdoor activities.
Dr. Johnston is currently accepting new patients. She is available Monday through Friday in the Medford office with appointments beginning at 7:30 am for your convenience.

We cannot maintain our respected status without an excellent staff. Our staff’s conduct, appearance, attitude and expertise are direct reflections of the quality of care provided to our patients. Without a solid foundation and excellent teamwork, an office simply cannot function properly.
