The optomap uses a scanning laser device to create a detailed image of the retina, allowing early detection of diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy and retinal detachment which can cause blindness. Your retinal image will be reviewed with you and then stored permanently for comparison of eye health changes on a yearly basis. Feel free to ask for more information about this procedure before your next examination.
